Arriving in the new year

New Year’s Eve is over and the year is brand new. Instead of rushing straight back in, you take three days in the Valais mountains: yoga, meditation, fresh mountain air and time to feel what you want to carry into the year.

We are guests of Hotel Balance in Les Granges above Salvan — a house from 1891 at more than 1,000 metres that has cooked organic and vegetarian since 1984.

A band whose name we are keeping to ourselves.

A band joins the New Year retreat as our secret guest. We will reveal who it is shortly before — this much we can say: there will be music, live, in the mountains, to start the year.

Hotel Balance · Les Granges, Valais

The place

Hotel Balance sits in Les Granges above Salvan in the Valais Alps, at more than 1,000 metres. The house dates from 1891 and has been run for more than forty years on the conviction that a different kind of tourism is possible: simple, warm and respectful of nature. The kitchen has been organic and vegetarian since 1984, with seasonal and regional ingredients. The house has a natural pool, a sauna, treatments and hiking trails.
